Royal Liberty Morris are a traditional Morris Dance side from Hornchurch, Essex and celebrating our 40th Anniversary throughout 2009. We dance Cotswold, Border and Molly Sword each with equal enthusiasm, vigour, spectacle... and scaffold poles.

Good News / Bad News... Bad News First...

Pat Harnwell, an enthusiastic member of the side for a number of years, died of pancreatic cancer on 13th January 2009.
Pat “The Hat” was best known for her interesting interpretation of Royal Lib Kit, her ability to get to gigs 1st - regardless of distance and the fact that she usually travelled by bike or public transport - and that she always sat by the door so she could get out for a quick roll-up between dances at practice.

Members of the side attended her funeral and a donation was made to animal charities as was her wish. Pat's tatters, bells and infamous hat went with her so she can join the massed ranks in The Moorish Dance on the other side.

Day Of Dance 2009 Brings Sunshine To Romford

Instruction to wear Winter Kit suddenly seemed ill advised...

Royal Liberty Morris, aided and abetted by Special Guests from across Essex and Suffolk, lit up Romford market with brilliant displays of Morris, North West Clog, Rapper Sword and Bellydancing this past Saturday. Drawn in by the hotter than expected weather large crowds of shoppers were wowed from 11am at 3 separate locations, 2 in the Market Place and 1 at The United Reformed Church in Western Road with a rowdy Session afterwards at The Golden Lion Pub with traditional music, song and dance.

The Day was finalised with a well attended Folk Dance at the church Hall with a mass band and Traditional Dancing.

Royal Liberty Morris would like to thank all parties concerned in there assistance in making what was a thoroughly enjoyable day possible including all our Guest Performers, Havering Council, United Reformed Church, The Red Hatters, The Golden Lion Public House and of course The Romford Market Traders and Shoppers.

Several items of property were left at the Church Hall so if you need to make a claim either use the mail link at the bottom of this page or contact Royal Lib through your existing contacts.
